This past year was a strange one. It flew by and looking back on it, it's a little blurry. Some good music happened, and some fantastical books, and some growing and changing and settling.
That pretty much sums up Christmas. It was lovely and bright. That went by quickly as well.
It's hard for me to pick favorites of anything. Always has been, always will be. But here's a lil list just for fun.
Favorite book of 2011...The Night Circus!!! Hands down!
Favorite songs of 2011(that came out in 2011)... Little Bird - Lisa Hannigan, Gold On The Ceiling - The Black Keys, New Love Song - The Avetts, It Will Rain - Bruno Mars. That's just what I can think of at the moment.
Favorite movie of 2011...Deathly Hallows Part 2 of course. Although I did love The Help and Bridesmaids, as well.
Favorite new music I discovered in 2011...Madeleine Payroux, Fitz and The Tantrums, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Civil Wars, Sonia Leigh.
In 2011 I was settling into my job and growing out my hair.
Slowly but surely.
Pottery is slowly but surely as well. More on the slowly side. It seems that I'm always struggling with something. For the longest time it was centering. Now it is trimming. And what's so hard about that?? I seem to take 5 giant steps forward and then 3 steps back.
This is a pot I made and trimmed at the end of 2010.
The edges are even and normal looking.
This is what they've looked like the last few times.
Jagged and uneven and stupid. So frustrating! Sometimes I think I get in a hurry but lots of times I just struggle. It's like my hands can never quite remember exactly how they did it last time. And when I go for long periods of time without throwing at all, it looks even worse. I guess it's all a work in progress. The job, the hair, the pottery.
So lets hope that 2012 brings lots of success and happy and wondyful.
